Will the Walmart shoppers that stomped & killed the employee be charged with murder?

I don’t see a difference between someone being shot or being stomped on by a bunch of people, so will the group of people that stomped & killed the walmart employee be charged as a group with murder?
or will they get off scott free & walmart just be sued for several million dollars by the family of the worker killed?
