What type of murder mystery should I do for a dinner party?
I’m hosting my first murder mystery dinner party and can’t decide whether I should go for a scripted or non- scripted version. I like the idea of spontaneity with no scripts but don’t want to bore guests with the endless discussions that might arise without some sort of guideline. Anyone got any suggestions over which games are the best?

What is the best way I can advertise my murder-mystery parties to local restaurants and bars?
I want to make extra cash hosting murder mystery parties for restaurants and bars; a bit like dinner theater, I suppose, but more interactive. Other than cold calling potential restaurants, what’s the best and most cost-effective way I can advertise my service to people in the industry? If it helps, I live in Austin, TX, if anyone knows of a local trade publication.

Make Money Hosting Murder Mystery Parties
Have you ever gone to a Murder Mystery Party? They are a lot of fun. If you haven’t been to one you should consider throwing your own Murder Mystery Party.
Murder Mystery Parties are parties where people act out their own little murder mystery. Usually a day or two before the party the host will give “information packets” to the people coming to the party. These packets contain information about the character that you will be playing in the murder mystery. You will receive information like: character name, history, habits, hobbies and other things that will help you portray the character. Some parties even take it a step further and have people come dressed up as their character.
There are many different “Murder Mystery Party” kits that come with everything you need to host your own party. Many of them are also “theme” driven. I’ve been to parties based around a Hawaiian Luau, a class reunion, a western theme and I’ve seen games in the store of about any theme you can think of.
The only bad thing about this is the host doesn’t get to “play”, they have to set everything up and run the show. This is where you come in. You can start your own business running these murder mystery parties for people. There is little to no start up costs since you don’t need a storefront since most parties will be held in the customers house or business.
This is just a very basic overview of how to do this, click on the banner below to receive more information.
Good Luck in your new business,
