Entertainment ideas for a murder mystery party about immortals going to their annual costume ball?

asked: I’m worried about the party lagging in the beginning since usually the atmosphere at any party is awkward at first. So I really need some ideas for little things they can do besides walking around and talking to each other. I don’t want it to be a big deal that takes up all their time since they should mostly be talking to the other characters but I just want something. I’m going to have a room dedicated to music and dancing but I don’t know how much that will get used.
