How can you murder what is meant to die?

December 30, 2009 · Filed Under Religion & Spirituality

Light asked:

People say time is an illusion. That puts reality into question. We don’t know how much is a lie. If time doesn’t exist the question above holds meaning.

If you could murder what is meant to die, then there would be no death, only what is meant to be.

Yes everything dies at one point or another. You cause murder when you prematurely make something die by taking matters into your own hands.

Yes, you are meant to die, BUT you are also meant to live. ami i correct? if not y would we be here. we all have our “specific duties” in life. So if you kill someone you make their living period shorter.

Yeah…i don’t get clearly what you really want to ask?
You mean how can you ‘kill time’ if it doesnt exist??
or do you have something like ‘grandfather paradox’ in mind?

Sorry, but no one with a reputation worth maintaining claims that time is an illusion. Einstein had some really interesting things to say about time, but he never questioned its existence.

if it’s men’t to die let it die on it’s own. if you kill it, i guess that’s how you murder it

Easy. By killing it before the time God has appointed it to die.
I suggest you just ponder this one. Experimenting on it may put you in some hot water!

I’m not sure I understand the question.
Are you inferring that because each of us WILL die at some point then it should be okay to hurry it along?
    That’s silly.

As for the rest of it, stay away from drugs - they’ll mess your mind.

Time is the way that humans experience the passing of events. god and angels etc. experience it differently. murdering is killing. dieing is different altogether.

Time is not an illusion. People say that God doesn’t exist and there is no absolute truth, it does not mean they’re right. When they give evidence, it supports their opinion but it still does not mean they are right. I see no evidence here and since that is so, I see no point to your question.

Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavada Gita that the soul is immortal and the body is just a cloth. It is the body that dies. No one can destroy the soul.
So you neither kill nor are caused to be killed. You have always existed and will always exist! You have to understand the concept of detachment in Hinduism to undertand this.
Those that stand against Dharma and righteousness infact are already dead and it will always come to pass.
However, murder is a completely different thing. Murder is to kill someone for personal gains when they have done nothing wrong to you or the society. All life should be respected and one must see the “Atma” or soul which is the God Particle in all his creation!
The wise neither grieve the living nor the dead. Yes, this world is “Maya” or illusion but one must do his Karma and not fall into inaction!

true, what you say might* be true. there may be no time, no reality, just an illusion we exist in, set forth by an almighty being, which doesn’t necessarily relate to religious figures, or other forces entirely. if we wanted to put that theory to an extreme, it could be like one of those matrix movies, you know? its possible.
but, just like in that situation, or any others related to that theory, we have come to CREATE time. we have come to define the thing which moves our lives along. when a certain amount of time passes in our world, or illusion, our bodies automatically desire sleep. after a certain amount of time, a pie will either be cooked, or go on to burn.
so, this existence, in this world or dimension that we live in, we have a thing called time, something in this reality or illusion that moves things along, changes and affects every single thing we do. if this really is an illusion, controlled by some other almighty being or another world entirely, we still have time, because it is in OUR illusion that time exists. it might not exist in another world, dimension, etc, but in this illusion it does.

and so, to answer your question, well, even without the whole ‘time not existing’ theory, i would say that you CAN murder what is meant to die. this is because a person is meant to die at a certain ‘time’, or at a different phase of their existence, if you’d rather not use the ‘time’ term. and so, by killing them before their due date, you cut off whatever time or space of life they origionally had left to them, and now you’ve created a breach in existance entirely. the people they could’ve met and the expiriences they could’ve had are now gone. any interaction they would’ve or could’ve had with the outside world will now never take place.

and then again, theres the qeustion of fate, in which i would say murder is still considered murder, even if the person WAS meant to die at that time, but i wont get into that.

What do you mean by ‘meant to die’? It seems to me that dying can only be a purpose of something if one, that thing is alive, two, that thing was created intentionally by a sentient being, and three, the sentient creator specifically intended the thing to die. Such things are probably fairly rare, but not totally impossible. However, I would say that murder is defined specifically for killing a conscious being (i.e. killing a snail or a fish is not actually murder) against its will, and so it is entirely possible to murder a being that is ‘meant to die’ if that being does not desire its own death. Also keep in mind that sentient beings normally have a right to their own continued existence, so even if the being that created something intends it to die, it can still be immoral to kill the thing itself, because its rights are not determined by what its creator intended for it.

    >People say time is an illusion.

I disagree. Subjective time may be an illusion, but from what I can tell, objective time is probably real.
