Can you play murder-mystery games made for 8 characters in larger groups?

I’m planning on hosting a murder-mystery party with 12 or more people, but most of the games i’m finding are for 8 characters. I’ve never done a murder-mystery party before and am wondering if I can still play one of these games in a larger group.

   Why don’t you try a murder mystery game specifically designed for large groups: has quite a few themes to choose from.
